Alchemic Arts is an independent project currently created and maintained by one developer. It grew out of two things I have spent a lot of time with: software engineering and tabletop role-playing games. I started building the character tools I used to wish for and still want at my own table today.
When I work on the site, I focus on the practical details that matter during a game. Pages should load quickly, character sheets should work well on a phone, and the useful parts of the platform should not disappear behind a subscription.
Our Philosophy
Features should reduce bookkeeping rather than interrupt gameplay. Automatic calculations, streamlined interfaces, cloud storage, and custom-content support all serve the same goal: making characters easier to create, manage, and play.
Community feedback meaningfully influences development. Bug reports, feature suggestions, and firsthand experiences help determine what should be improved next. Alchemic Arts aims to earn support by being genuinely useful, not by artificially restricting essential functionality.
Looking Ahead
Alchemic Arts currently supports Black Void and Dungeons & Dragons 3.5, with more systems planned for the future. I also want to add sheet sharing, better Game Master and encounter tools, and more room for homebrew content. Another idea I am excited about is a collection of old-school random generators: the sort of tools you could use to quickly roll up an item, stock a shop, get a stat block for an NPC, or find the seed of a new quest. The goal for these generators is to be a return to form for a lot of long-time players like me, before the existance of generative AI.
I post updates in the Alchemic Arts Discord server as new features go live. It is also the easiest place to reach me with a question, share an idea, or report something that is not working correctly.
Supporting the Project
Alchemic Arts has ongoing hosting, development, and maintenance costs. Optional Patreon or community support may help fund continued development. If advertising becomes part of the site, the intention is to keep it limited and unobtrusive, with a native ad-free browsing option available to supporters.
Gameplay functionality is intended to remain available without a subscription. Support is always optional: the goal is to fund the project by providing something people genuinely value, not by making the free experience deliberately frustrating. If Alchemic Arts makes game night a little easier, it is accomplishing what I set out to build.
